○ Adding conditions to an activity/block
By adding a condition to an activity, you can decide when it becomes available for the learner.

Scenarios
The following scenarios are based on the scenarios you find in this article.
- Assessment
Learners take an assessment after each topic. This will become available after all activities of that topic have been completed. - Retake
If a learner fails an assessment, they will get another chance to take the assessment. - Certificate
You want the learner to get a certificate after passing an assessment. - Limited access
You're planning a workshop and learners will have to prepare for this in the week before until they can subscribe to the event. They will be able to do this until one day before the workshop takes place. - Give access to a select group
You want to give your learners the assignment to record a video. A select group of learners would have to give feedback to each others videos.
Which roles do you need?
- Designer
To add conditions to the blocks and activities. - Administrator
To set certain conditions in the course settings.
You can add conditions to blocks and activities. Click on next to the block ornext to the activity.
It is not possible to add new conditions to published activities and blocks. It is also not possible to delete existing conditions.
It is possible to change the (triggers of) most conditions in conditions of pubslished activities/templates. Read more about this in Adjust the conditions of a published activity/block
Scenario 1 - Assessment
Learners take an assessment after each topic. This will become available after all activities of that topic have been completed.
- Clickat the assessment.
- Choose the Conditions tab and click + Add.
- Choose the condition: '... after activity "X" is completed'
- In the dropdown menu select the activity that needs to be completed first.
- Add this condition for each activity that exists about this topic.
- Uncheck Hide unavailable activity, so the assessment will be visible in the learning journey.
Scenario 2 - Retake
If a learner fails an assessment, they will get another chance to take the assessment.

Scenario 3 - Certificate
You want the learner to get a certificate after passing an assessment.
- Clickat the certificate.
- Choose the Conditions tab and click + Add.
- Add the condition: '... after activity "X" is completed with result "X"'.
- Select the assessment in the drop-down menu and select Passed.
- Uncheck Hide unavailable activity, so the certificate will already be visible in the learning journey.
Scenario 4 - Limited access
You're planning a workshop and learners will have to prepare for this in the week before until they can subscribe to the event. They will be able to do this until one day before the workshop takes places.
- Clickat the hand-in assignment that the learners should finish first.
- Choose the Conditions tab and click + Add.
- Add the following conditions: '... from date "X"' and set the date.
- Check the option Send notification to learners to notify them about this new activity.
- Hide the activity before it becomes available.
- Clickat the event activity.
- Choose the Conditions tab and click + Add.
- Add the following conditions: '... after activity "X" is completed' and '... until date "X"'.
- All conditions must be met for the activity to be available.
- Choose the hand-in assignment in the drop-down and set the date.
- Notify the learners 1 day in advance that the activity will be closed.
You can edit the notification text by going to the Settings tab and clicking the button Edit e-mail contents. The notifications that apply here are Activity available from and Activity available after.

Scenario 5 - Give access to a select group
You want to give your learners the assignment to record a video. A select group of learners would have to give feedback to each others videos.
- Create a video hand-in assignment per group.
- Click Edit at the video hand-in assignment.
- Choose the Conditions tab and click + Add.
- Check the option Hide unavailable activity.
- Add the condition: '... after a learner has been granted explicit access'.
- Check the option that learners can see other learners who have access.
- Once the template is published, you can indicate in the course settings which learners will see which activity.
