○ 'Resetting' a course and/or activity for a learner
Resetting a course or a specific activity in a course is not possible. However, there are options in aNewSpring that allow a learner to complete the specific activity again or to restart the complete course.
'Resetting' a complete course
As mentioned earlier, it is not possible to reset the course with one click so the learner can start the course all over again.
The workaround to make sure the learner can start the course again is to delete the course subscription. After deleting the course subscription you can subscribe the learner again to the same course. The learner can then start again with all activities.
If you delete the subscription of the learner, you also delete all results achieved in this course. This cannot be undone.
The learner should start all over again with all activities in the course. Previously achieved results cannot be retrieved anymore.
'Resetting' an activity in the course
Activities cannot be reset either. What you can do is offering the exact same activity again in the template (and course). In this way learners can walk through the same content of the activity that should be reset, but then in a different activity.
How do you create a new activity for the learner?
In the template of the course you can add and publish a new activity that the learner should do again. Below you can read the steps that you can take to create a new activity for the learner.
1) Add (or copy) the activity that the learner should complete again.
You can manually create a new activity or copy the activity via the Copy activities button at the top of the template.
You can read more about copying activities in the article below:
○ Copy activities (also from other templates)
2) Set conditions on the activity
If you don't want to make the activity available for all learners in the course, you can set conditions on the activity.
For example, with the 'Explicit access' condition you can determine which learners should have access to the activity.
In the article below you can read more about giving a select group (or in this case perhaps only one learner) access to an activity using the 'Explicit access' condition under Scenario 5.
○ Adding conditions to an activity/block
3) Publish the activity
Once the activity has been completely setup, you can publish it in the template and course(s).
Publish the activity by clicking the globe icon next to the activity.
4) Give the learner access to the activity
You can give the learner access to the activity via the course settings page, via the Explicit access tab. Instructors can also do this via the Instruct page when they have access to the Settings page.
Read more about granting explicit access in the article below:
○ Course Settings - Tab: Explicit access
The learner can make the same activity again (but then in another activity in the course). The results of both activities are visible on the Results page after completing the activities.
