○ Revoke an obtained certificate from a learner
Scenarios
- Some learners have obtained a certificate. There seems to be an error in the .pdf file and you want to give learners a correct version.
- The certificate activity was set with the wrong conditions. Learners who had failed the final test still received a certificate. You would like to revoke these certificates.
Required roles
Author/Designer - Correct the certificate
Instructor - Revoke the certificate
1) Correct the issued certificate and adjust the activity
If the certificate itself is incorrect, it can be replaced by adding a new certificate activity to the learning journey. This is something users who have the role of author and designer can do in aNewSpring. To learn more about this, take a look at our article about updating a certificate.
2) Find out which learners have obtained a wrong certificate
Go to .
Click via the More button on Activities overview.
You will then see the overview of all activities. Click on the name of the certificate activity to see which learners have obtained the certificate.
3) Find the relevant learners at the learners tab
Since you cannot revoke a certificate via the dashboard of a course, it is best to open a new browser tab for this step. You can then quickly switch between the list of learners in the course and the list of all learners.
Open aNewSpring in a new tab, go to and click the Learners tab. In this list you will see all the learners you are instructing regardless of which learning journeys they are enrolled for.
Use the search function to find a learner whose certificate you want to revoke.
Click.
4) Revoke the certificate
Open the Certificates panel and click next to the relevant certificate.
As revoking a certificate cannot be undone, you first have to agree the consequences before you can click the button.
The certificate will still be visible in the certificate overview of the learner. You should therefore explain why the certificate has been revoked.
This text will also appear when the certificate is checked via the certificate checker. You can find more information about this at the heading Certificate checker in the article create and add a certificate.
