Introduction

In a template, you can set up the course completing activity on the Template settings tab under Advanced settings

The course completing activity can be used for different purposes. Below you can read more what these purposes are.

Prevent that learners who completed the course still receive template notifications

If you make use of template notifications, you probably don't want to send these template notifications anymore to learners who already completed the course. If you set up the course completing activity and the learner completes this activity, the learner will no longer receive these template notifications.

Setting up the course completing activities for integrations with external systems

If you have an integration with an external system you have to set up the course completing activity in some cases so aNewSpring can send out a signal to the external system that the course has been completed by the learner.

For the following integrations you have to set up the course completing activity so the external system receives a signal about the completed activity/course:

  • AFAS: if you want to forward the results to AFAS after the learner completed a course, you have to set up the course completing activity. After completing this activity, a signal will be sent to AFAS for that learner.

It is also possible to send a score to AFAS. Then you also have to select an activity under Base course grade on. You can also find this setting on the Template settings tab under Advanced settings.
  • Webhooks: If you have enabled Webhooks and have indicated that you want to receive the CourseCompleted webhook, this webhook will be sent out as soon as a learner has completed the course completing activity.
If you use this webhook, it is therefore important that you set up the course completing activity in the template settings.

Release courses in a bundle one by one

If you make use of bundles and you want the courses within a bundle to be released one by one and the learner can only start the next course when the other course has been completed, you can set conditions on the courses in the bundle.

For this it is necessary to set up the course completing activity per template that is part of the bundle. As soon as the learner has completed the course completing activity, the next course becomes available.

Stop the MemoTrainer after a learner has completed all activities of the learning journey

If you also use the MemoTrainer besides the activities in your template, you may want your learners to stop receiving new MemoTrainings after they have completed all activities within the course.

For this you can also set up the course completing activity. Once the learner has completed this activity, no new MemoTrainings will become available anymore for the learner.

Setting up conditions on the course completing activity

Do you want the whole journey to be completed before they can start the course completing activity? Then you can add conditions to the course completing activity.
