○ Create a folder structure (Content Converter)
This article contains information about the Content Converter. This is an external tool that can convert aNewSpring content to Word and vice versa. More information about the Content Converter can be found on this page.

1) Add a folder structure to your content library
To structure the content in a clear way, you can create folders in Word. These will become the folders where the content will be located within the content library.
The Heading styles in Word will represent the folder structure. Heading 1 will become a folder on the highest level. Add sub-folders to add different layers in the content structure. Heading 2 represents a sub-folder, Heading 3 a sub-sub-folder and so on.
This will help you to structure your document and content library before adding the actual content.
Are you planning to create an adaptive learning journey? In that case it is extra important to apply a good folder structure because you can use the folder names for the learning objectives in the template. See Step 1 of the article Tutorial: Create an adaptive learning journey for learners
Some tips to make this work
- Use a new paragraph for each heading by directly pressing enter after adding the heading.
- Use a maximum of 250 characters for each folder. All folder names longer than 250 characters will be ignored by the converter.
- If the same heading style is used in two paragraphs that directly follow each other (for example Heading 2 to add a subfolder) and there is no content placed between the first and second paragraph and there is content placed after the second paragraph, only for the second paragraph a folder will be created in the content library.
The content of the first paragraph will be skipped.
2) Check the 'Heading' structure
To do this open the navigation pane. Go to View and check the Navigation Pane option. Or simply use Ctrl+F to open the pane and select Headings.
Be aware not to skip a heading level because this will cause an error when the Word file is converted.
3) Add content parts and questions between the folders to add them in the right folder
The content parts and questions will be placed within the same folder as the folder heading above. For this reason, you can add pages anywhere.
4) Check the usage of paragraphs
Activate the Show all formatting marks function to make sure every item is put in a separate paragraph.
When you have used a 'soft break' (Shift + Enter) the text will remain part of the paragraph above. This will cause an error when converting the file. 'Soft breaks' can be recognised by the Enter symbol:
