○ Tutorial: Create a report to see the number of logout moments
Scenario
- You have set an automatic logout for the learners, in case of inactivity. Now you want to know how often learners take the initiative themselves to log out in relation to how often the system logs them out.
Which role do you need?
Administrator
In this tutorial we are going to create a report to see more details about the session duration. A session is the period in which a user is active in the learning environment, the time from logging in to logging out.
In the end you will be able to see in the report how often a user has logged in and how he has logged out: by himself or automatically by the system.
Click the tab . There is no standard report for the report we are going to make now.
Therefore, clickto create a new report.
1) Select Type
When you want to create a report to retrieve the session data, choose Users.
2) Select Columns
Select the options as shown in the screenshot. We want to get the data from the Session timeout and we want to know per user how many times he was logged in.
3) Group rows
In this step you can determine which columns should show up together in one row.
By basing the grouping of the row on the User, each row in the report will start with the Full Name of the user.
If you selected more columns about User, for example Company, then the Company will be shown in the report after the name of the user, in the second column.
The session timeout can have 3 values:
- No: The user has logged out himself.
- Yes: The system has logged out the learner.
- None: The user has not been logged in yet.
With Group Columns and choosing Distinct with count (separate columns) for the 'Session timeout', you will see a column per value with a number.
At 'Logged in', choose Count to see how often users have logged in in total.
4) Filters (optional)
In reports of the type Users, you cannot set a filter based on the course. If you want that though, it is best to add the learners to a learner group. You can find out how to do this easily below heading C) Adding learners to a learner group in the article Course settings - Tab: Learners.
You can also filter other data. For example, if you don't want to see users in the report who didn't log in yet, you can set a filter to only see the session timeout with the status Yes or No.
Note that at the bottom the option At least one criteria should be met is selected.
5) Sorting
Now you can select how rows will be sorted. The system will first sort based on the primary option (the upper one) and within that it will sort based on the secondary option (the lower one).
Click once you have set up everything to your liking to run the report.
6) View the report
Your report is ready! If you want to make some changes like adding columns, click Edit.
Click Export to export the report as a .csv file. You can use this file to edit your report in Excel or similar software.
