What is a mentor in aNewSpring?
A mentor is a third person that can view the progress and efforts of learners, based on statistics. It is possible for the mentor to view the statistics without the learner's knowing.
An instructor has more rights than a mentor and cannot only see statistics, but also communicate with the learners, shadow a course and assess assignments. Read more about the instructor.
A mentor can be added to all template types. The instructor can only be added tot blenden, social or gamebased learning templates.
Step 1: Give an user the mentor role
You can do this under the Users tab. Add a new user or click on Roles next to an existing user. Check the box under Mentor and when you have Updated, a new tab Mentor will appear. Here you can add the user to a new or existing mentor group. Read more about roles.
Step 2: Create a mentor group
Click via the tab Users on the button Groups. Create a new group under the tab Mentors and add the mentor to the group bij editing the group. This group can be linked to courses where they may view the statistics.
Step 3: Link the mentor group to the course
Click via the tab Courses on More and then Settings at the course. Next select the tab Instructors to add the mentor group to the course. If this is done, the mentor can use the tab Instruct to gain access to the course statistics.
