○ Link a look & feel to a specific user
Scenarios
- You want to change your look & feel without making the changes visible immediately for all your users;
- You want to see which look & feel settings affect the new account Settings and Results page for learners.
Introduction
Since release 108 it is possible to link a look & feel to specific users. The advantage of this is that you can make changes to your look & feel without making the changes visible immediately for all your learners and without making the changes in the current look & feel that is visible for your learners.
This can be useful to adjust the entire look & feel and thus be able to test the look & feel on all kinds of different pages.
With the launch of the new Account settings page and Results page, the advantage is that you can first test the look & feel settings for these pages before they actually go live for all learner.
Below you can read how to link a look & feel to a specific user and how this user can then adjust and test the look & feel settings.
1. Copy an existing look & feel that you want to improve or create a new look & feel
Required role: Tenant
If you want to customise an existing look and feel, you can copy the look & feel so that you don't have to start from scratch and you can customise everything in the copy without affecting the original look & feel that may already be in use.
To copy a look and feel, go to the Settings page and click Manage look & feels. Click the 'copy' icon in the Actions column next to the look and feel you want to copy.
If you want to start with a completely empty look and feel, you can choose to create a new look and feel.
In the article below you can read how to create a new look and feel and what you can set:

2. Link the look & feel to specific users
Required roles:
Tenant: to link the look & feel to specific users (and to be able to make changes to the look & feel)
Administrator: to create the test accounts
Creating accounts for test users
To ensure that the look & feel and its changes are not immediately visible to all users, link the new or newly copied look & feel to specific users.
To test the (look & feel for) new pages (the Account settings page and the Results page), it is recommended to assign the look & feel to two users and create a test account for these two users:
1. A test user with only the role of Learner;
2. A test user with the role of Designer or Instructor.
You can read more about testing these new pages and creating test accounts to test the new pages in the article below:

Linking users to a look & feel
Via the Settings page and the Manage look & feels button, the tenant gets access to all available look & feels of the environment. To link a look & feel to specific users, this can be done via the More button next to a look & feel and then click Manage Testers.
In the pop-up you can select the accounts that should be linked to the look & feel.
For users who are linked to a specific look & feel, the look & feel that is currently linked to the learning environment will be overwritten and these users will instead see the look & feel they are linked to.
3. Testing and adjusting the look & feel
3a) Log in as a tenant to make changes to the look & feel
Users who have the role of tenant can change the look & feel settings via the Settings page and then via the Manage look & feels button.

3b) Log in as Learner and Designer to test the look & feel (via an incognito screen)
To see the changes on the learner side you made as a tenant to the look & feel, log in as one of the two test users you created in step 2 and designated as test accounts. Do this via an incognito screen in your browser.
By logging in via an incognito screen, you can simultaneously be logged in as a tenant and change the look & feel settings and be logged in via one of the two test accounts to see the changes made to the look & feel on the learner side.
Testing is only possible for pages that are visible after logging in. Pages that learners see before logging in, such as the login screen and the catalogue, cannot be tested.
