○ Testing the renewed Account Settings and Results overview page (and enabling it for all users)
Introduction
The new Account Settings page and Results page are not directly visible for all users in existing environments (they are only directly visible for environments created after release 108).
The pages aren't directly visible so there is still room and time to test the new pages on the backend and adjust the look & feel settings for example.
You can appoint specific users as testers, who will already see the new pages and can test them.
These accounts can also be used to see whether specific look & feel settings need to be adjusted for these pages.
This also gives you the opportunity to make screenshots of the new pages in your own branding, for example to share with learners when communicating about the new pages or when you want to update your manuals with screenshots of the new pages.
When the pages are ready to make available for the entire environment, the Tenant can enable the new pages.. From then on, the new pages are available to all learners.
Set up and manage testers
Required role: Tenant
On the Settings page of the learning environment, you will find the option New learner experience at the top right. Click the button Set up testers to indicate which users will already see the new pages and can test them:
Click Select testers to select which users should get early access to the new pages.
We recommend two separate accounts for testing:
1. A test account with only the learner role: this is for testing the new Account settings page (which will only be visible for users with only the learner role);
2. A test account with the role of Designer or Instructor: this is for testing the new Results page.
Below you find an explanation of how these pages can exactly be tested by these accounts.
Testing the Account settings page
Since the new Account settings page will only be available to users who have only the learner role, it is recommended to create a test account with only the learner role when testing the Account Settings page:
1. Create a new user with the learner role (you do not need to subscribe the learner to a course, otherwise a licence will be deducted);
2. Set the learner as a tester via the Settings page under New learner experience . Click the Set up testers button to mark this account as a tester;
3. Then log in as this learner and click the name of the account at the top right and then click My account;
4. Visit the Account settings page to preview and test the new pages and optionally to see what look & feel settings you want to change for these pages.
Testing the Results page
The new Results page can be tested by a user with the designer or instructor role.
Designer
A designer can test a template and while testing the template he clicks Home. The designer can then navigate to the Results page. This can be done by clicking on the account name in the upper right corner and then click Results overview .
Instructor
An instructor can test the Results page by shadowing a course. This can be done via the Instruct page by clicking the eye icon next to a course. The instructor can then go to the Results page by clicking his name at the top right and then click Results overview.
1. If necessary, create a new account that will have the role of Designer or Instructor (this user must be able to access one of the templates by linking the Designer to the content libraries that are linked to a template or to link the test instructor to a course so he can shadow the course). You can also use an existing account for this;
2. Set the learner as a tester via the Settings page under New learner experience. Via the Set up testers button you can designate this account as a tester;
3. Then log in as this user. Depending on the role of the user, you will test the template and then navigate to the Results overview or you start shadowing the course as an instructor and then navigate to the Results overview .
4. View the Results page to review and test the new pages and optionally see what look & feel settings you want to change for this page.
Setting up the look & feel
As you test the new pages, you may discover things you want to change in the look & feel to improve the pages.
To ensure that you can test the look & feel settings and changes to the look & feel without it being immediately visible to all learners, you can also link a look & feel to specific users who will be the only one to see this look & feel.
In the article below you can read more about linking a look & feel to a specific user and how you can test the look & feel of the new pages:
○ Linking a look & feel to a specific user
Enable the new pages for the entire environment
Once the pages have been tested and are ready to go live for the entire environment and all users, the tenant of the environment can activate the pages of the new learner experience via the Settings page.
Click the blue button Activate new experience part 2 to put the pages live for the entire environment and all users.
Once the new pages are activated, the new pages will replace the old ones for all learners. This change is permanent.
Once the new pages are live, the New Learner Experience block on the Settings page will be hidden.
You can decide yourself when you want to make the new pages available for all learners. If you don't activate the new pages yourself, they will be put live automatically after all new pages are available.
