In aNewSpring we use different terms that you will often encounter. Below is an alphabetical list of terms.
Activities
Create activities where you put content that can consist of questions and content parts. There are different learning activities with different characteristics:

When adding a new activity to a template, you can see all different characteristics per activity type.

Instructor group
Link instructors to a course through an instructor group. Instructors can view the statistics of learners in a course and can assess the activities of learners.

Block
You can add blocks to templates. You can place multiple activities under one block to create a hierarchy in the learning journey (the learning path).
Bundles (bundle course)
A bundle is a collection of learning journeys which belong to a series.
Within a bundle, you create a bundle course so that you can make different groups of learners who follow the same collection of learning journeys.

Certificate
You can hand out a certificate to your learners as proof that they finished the course. You can set up that learners receive the certificate after they passed the final test.

Condition
Indicate when an activity becomes available for the learners.

Content library
All content that must be included in the template, or learning journey, is in one or more content libraries. Within the library you can add content consisting of questions and content parts. To keep everything in order, you can organize everything into folders. You only need to create content once and you can use it in multiple templates.

Content part
A content page that can include text, images, videos and more.

Course
Once a template is published, you can create a course to which you can subscribe learners. By creating multiple courses under one template you can link several groups of learners.
Learner group
You can add learners to a learner group, for example learners that wordk for the same company. You can subscribe a learner group to multiple courses at the same time. Or you can use the learner group to view data for this specific group of learners in a report.

Exam term
Refers to a test matrix and indicates whether the question is an exam question. If you use exam terms, you can make assessments with random questions based on exam terms in your template.

External ID
These IDs are used to link aNewSpring to another system using the API. From this system, actions can be implemented such as adding courses and subscribing learners.
You can add external IDs to several soncepts in aNewSpring.
Glossary
Add a glossary to your content libraries with an explanation of all concepts that are frequently used in your content. Link the glossary to a template and the concepts of the glossary will be underlined in the content parts that are linked to the activities. The learner can read the explanation.

Licences
At aNewSpring you pay with licences. When you subscribe learners to a course, a licence will be deducted from you licence balance. An active licence is valid for one year.
You purchase licences in advance that will be added to your licence balance. When you subscribe a new learner to a course or when the licence of a learner has to be renewed, a licence will be deducted from the balance.

Measures
Measures are competences learners can score on. Measures can be linked to matrix questions without a score and can be linked to Scan or 360 degree feedback activities.

MemoTrainer
The MemoTrainer is a tool that trains knowledge in a personalised (adaptive) way, so learners remember more and pass a course more quickly.

Observer group
Link observers to a course by linking an observer group. Observers can only view the statistics of the learners in the course.

Profiles (and competencies)
A profile is a way to link competencies. Every profile contains competencies which a learner needs to achieve.
Competencies are broader than profiles. A competency can be a measurable degree of knowledge, skill, attitude, or even a personality trait.

Push notifications
In the aNewSpring app learners can enable push notifications that can be sent in the app. Read more about these notifications in the article below:

Questions
Questions are content pages where you add question content to test the knowledge of the learners (questions with score) or to ask about the experience of the learners (questions without a score).
When creting questions, you can choose between the following question types:
Questions with a score:

- Fill in the Blanks - drag & drop

Renewal (of a licence)
A licence is valid for one year. If the learner still has an active or new course subscription after that year, a new licence will be deducted from the balance to renew the licence of the learner.

Roles
With roles you can give users in aNewSpring certain permissions to determine what they can and cannot see and/or do.

SCORM
SCORM means 'Shareable Content Object Reference Model'. This is a model for the exchange of learning objects. With SCORM it is possible to add external content to a template via the SCORM activity.

Sections
This is a table of contents within an activity. Use this to group content parts and questions together within a Lesson activity.
Subenvironment
An extra learning environment that you can add to your own environment as another subdomain.
Tags
By using tags you can structure templates, courses and content.
Template
A template is the basis of your learning journey. Build a learning journey with blocks and activities. You need content that is in one of your content libraries or you can create new content in the template to add to your activities.
Widget
With widgets you can enable extra options to your course. Learners can see blocks on the right side of the course overview where information and extra functionalities are shown. In the template you define which widgets should be shown. You can also add widgets yourself with, for example, an instruction video or extra information about the course.
