○ Manage widgets
On the right side of the course overview learners see several widgets which contain information. You can set up the widgets for them in the template. You can add a custom widget which contains e.g. an introductory video.
Where?
Click the tab in the main menu and click next to the course template you want to use.
In the Template tab you find the widgets on the right side.
How?
Widgets that learners should not see can be removed by clicking the X'es. Re-add widgets by using the split button. To add a custom widget click on +Widget.
Which widgets can be enabled?
Results
This widget is not visible for learners but this widget makes the 'activities' and 'retention' bars visible in the course. These bars are also visible in the course tile on the Home page. When the learner opens the course these progress bars are visible at the top of the page:
By removing the widget from the template, the progress bars will be hidden.
Search
This widget is not visible as well but enables a search bar at the top of the page of the learning journey overview. This search bar can be used to search for items within the course.
MemoTraining
With this widget you can setup the MemoTrainer.
Exercise
This widget is linked to the MemoTrainer. By enabling this widget learners can make extra exercises to increase their retention.
Documentation
Here you can add extra information for your learners. An instructor can add extra information to this widget per course through the Instructors dashboard.
In this widget you can also select one or more glossaries that should be shown here.
Instead of placing this widget in the list of other widgets it is also possible to show this documentation above the blocks in the learning journey.
Click Show documentation above blocks to change this.
Extra info
Add extra information by making use of HTML elements.
Subscription
If settings indicate that learners can unsubscribe themselves in the course settings, a link to do this will appear in this widget:
This widget is only visible when this option is enabled in the course settings and is never visible during testing a template.
Calendar
In this widget the learner sees all calendar items added by the learner themselves and/or the instructor.
In this widget the first three available calendar items are visible. To see the other calendar items the learner can click the link in the widget.
If a course contains events, the event is also shown in the Calendar widget after the learner subscribed himself to the event.
The event is also visible for the instructor in the Calendar widget if the instructor is linked as assessor to the event.
Custom widget
You can use a custom widget to show a content part in the template overview. This could be an introductory video, a list of documents, text or any other possibility that the content parts can offer. Add a custom widget by clicking on +Widget. Next, choose the content part you want to use in the widget.
Widgets that you did not remove, but are not in use (like About this course and Calendar) will not be visible to learners.
